English | De Nacht van de Kaap Festival

De Nacht van de Kaap is heading to Katendrecht on September 3th. During the Wereldhavendagen (World Port Days) the festival provides music, theatre and lots of maritime fun all night long. The festival has won the title: “Best Festival in the Netherlands” (Nationale Evenementenprijs 2015) and is mentioned in the Lonely Planet as tip during the harbour festivities: ‘Festivals-goers done retro get-ups such as sailor outfits for the spin-off de Nacht van de Kaap (night of the Cape), held on one crazy Wereldhavendagen night in Katendrecht, Rotterdam’s former red-light quarter’. (Best in Travel 2016) To understand what we are talking about, you must experience this festival yourself. It’s the most lively festival of the year!

De Nacht van de Kaap is known for its wide range of music: Dutch singalongs, jazz, blues, rock and roll and everything in between. The past of the neighborhood Katendrecht (Kaap) as red-light district with famous bars, is sung by famous Dutch artists such as Pierre Kartner (Vader Abraham), De Deurzakkers and Pierre van Duijl at the outdoor stage on the beautiful square Deliplein. There is also music from all corners of the world with electronic rock mixed with African influences by Throes + The Shine (PRT), space funk from the Britsh act Comet is Coming (UK), American power punk from The Younger Lovers (USA) and many more! A variety of Dutch artists like the oldest rock’n roll band of Holland the Bintangs and typical Rotterdam act De Wannebiezz will rock the stage. In addition to the music, there is also plenty of other things to do and see like a Disco Karaoke, silent disco Dansvoer and don’t miss the gorgeous mermaids De Rotterdamsche Viswijven!
